Food for thought..... Pastor Jeremiah Steepek (pictured below) transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning. He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service....only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food....NO ONE in the church gave him change. He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit n the back. He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him. As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such. When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation........"We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek"....The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation.....The homeless man sitting in the back stood up.....and started walking down the aisle.....the clapping stopped with ALL eyes on him....he walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment....then he recited “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning...many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame.... he then said....Today I see a gathering of people......not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples...when will YOU decide to become disciples? He then dismissed service until next week.......Being a Christian is more than something you claim. It's something you live by and share with others. Faith would like to wish you all a happy Saturday just because you deserve one :)
This is a catastrophe in life and in our communities, we have forgotten to be communities. We need not to judge what happened, that is for the courts and the law, what we need to do is to build our communities so that these tragedies stop. Our children, our collective children are our collective responsibility. Lend a hand to a child's caregiver without judging them. This is God's work and starts with each of us.
Father's day is next Sunday, what do you do to celebrate fathers?
Thank God for another productive, thought driven and God filled week. So thankful to have experienced yet another week filled with life...
The Faith family would like to extend its condolences to all those affected by the tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon. May God be with all the injured and their respective families.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. As God loves us all, sharing that love is just a taste of heaven. God is love in purest form, remember to share God and his love with all of his children, young and not so young!
Faith is proud to announce its premier youth group! Meet us starting next Saturday, February 9th. Bring all your friends for a hip, uplifting get-together with other youths in the community. Tell your friends and spread the word!
Starting the week off with thanks to our Lord for waking us up and giving us opportunities to shine as his children. Let us do our best to demonstrate our Christian love through our Christian lives.
Giving Thanks for a great morning and a great God. Taking comfort in the words: 1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
So how has everyone enjoyed the beginning of a new and wonderful year? As we engage the new year, let us give thanks for the many blessings that we have and pray together to build our communities, bringing God's love into the lives of others throughout 2013!
Wishing all a blessed and merry Christmas full of Love and Family. May the New Year bring even more blessings as well as compassion for our fellow man. Let us not judge one another in hopes that our Lord will be as judgmental as we are, let us love one another as God is Love!
Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 a.m. when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air, they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say, they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. "Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. "This is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house." When what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near. He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. Then He opened His arms and He called them by name, and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring. Those children all flew into the arms of their King and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. And as if He could read all the questions she had He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad." Then He looked down on earth, the world far below, He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe. Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" "may this country be delivered from the hands of fools" "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" Then He and the children stood up without a sound. "Come now my children, let me show you around." Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran, all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, "In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT." Written by Cameo Smith, Mt. Wolf, PA ***********************************
Such a sad day in Connecticut; prayers for the children and families affected by the tragedy there. May God grant the world compassion and empathy as we attempt to walk more like you.
On the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor we pray that all the lives lost that day are at peaceful rest. The Lord is with all those who believe, regardless of race, country or political ideology and in his presence, we are all humbled.
Praying for the safety and comfort of our brothers and sisters suffering the weather in the wake of hurricane Sandy. Please Lord, give them strength and warmth in your love.
Prayers for all those affected by Hurricane Sandy. May God rush what you need to you and warm you as he hold you close.
